Sunshine and Health Magazine

Going through my collection of old naturist magazines earlier today, and this one caught my eye.  From December, 1952.  Think I will get this one matted and framed for NEXT Christmas!

Those Swingin' Peters Sisters Go to Town!

Several months ago, I finally watched the movie, "Ali Baba Goes to Town".  Eddie Cantor, sadly forgotten in today's world, starred and it is a very enjoyable movie.  I fell in love with one of the musical acts, 'The Peters Sisters'.  Imagine my surprise when I found an LP they had recorded!  The song I am sharing is from the LP pictured below and is 'The Best Things in Life are Free'.

Beat Me Daddy, Eight to the Bar

Ondrej Havelka and the Melody Makers are a current band, but they perform in the style of years past.  Here is one of my favorites.

Shoot the Sherbert to Me Herbert

From the Decca release in 1939. The Merry Macs were a popular vocal teams of the early 1940s. They got its start in the mid 1920s when three high school age brothers (Judd, Joe and Ted McMichael) began performing under the name "The McMichaels."  In 1927 they were hired by bandleader Joe Haymes who changed their name to "The Personality Boys."  They became known as the Merry Macs with the addition of vocalist Cheri McKay in 1930.  McKay was replaced by Helen Carroll in 1938.  Some of the group's best known recordings include "Mairzy Doats," "Praise The Lord and Pass The Ammunition" and "The Hut Sut Song."

At Cypress Cove

I was going through some old photos today and found this...taken Memorial Day Weekend in 2003 at Cypress Cove.  Here was my journal entry for the weekend:

Friday, May 23rd through Monday, May 26th 2003

Col and I had a nice relaxing dinner at Dino's Restaurant, and then drove over to Cypress Cove for the holiday weekend. We got there about nine thirty. A room on the second floor, #1196. Nice. Could use a new carpet, but nice. Saturday was a mix of sun and clouds. I walked through the Cove two times today. Col and I sunbathed by the pool; I assembled our new little charcoal grill and cooked some hotdogs for dinner. We set it up on a picnic table across the street from our room; right by the laundry room. Scott, Pauline and the kids just happen to be in the room downstairs from us. Got lots of sunshine on Sunday. I walked through the Cove 3x; it took just over an hour. Col cooked some chicken on our little grill for dinner..... There was some nice live music by the pool today. My buns got burned today. On Monday, we spent several hours sunbathing. I walked through the Cove 2ce. I went without clothes from 9:30 Friday until just about 3:30 this afternoon. I drove us home; we had a very nice weekend.

Live Music on St. Pete Beach

For several years now, we have enjoyed great music and great friends that all came about because of "When Buffett Meets Sinatra", two very talented musicians named JC Unger and Dale Williams. Their act is now only a memory, but they are each still entertaining fans all along the St Pete beaches. The video above was selected to be shown on the big screen during Tampa Bay Rays home games at Tropicana Field last season. For more info, click on the JC Unger link on the side bar.
